Team Reetard competes for WaterAid

Team Reetard was founded at the beginning of 2012 when Joakim and Carl decided to try a few multisport competitions. Joakim has a background as a martial artist and Carl from kart racing, so this will be a completely different challenge for the two of them. Together with their friends Jesper and Richard they decided that this summer’s most challenging race would be Stockholm Extreme.

- “Since we anyway are doing something extremely challenging, we could just as well try to do something extra and support the society. I found out that it’s possible to support different organizations when activating yourself in different kinds of sports, and I thought that was something we could help with” Joakim, team captain

Through the company Inspons it’s possible to support WaterAid and other organizations. Team Reetard has set their goal to collect 10 000 skr before the 6th of September, that’s five days after their last race. Inspons has decided to call Team Reetards challenge for “Sommarchocken” and it contains, Ö loppet, Stockholm Extreme and Aim Challenge Hemsedal.

Start and finish area

We are happy to announce that the start and finish of Stockholm Extreme will be at "Medborgarplatsen" in the heart of Stockholm. The race will start with a number of short loops where the teams return to the startarea after each loop so it will be very easy for spectators to follow the first hours of the race.

Just as the previous years Stockholm Extreme will start "fast and furious" and there will be no room for mistakes if you want to leave the starting area in the lead of the race. High speed and quick navigation will be very important during the first part of the race.

After the first loops the teams will be heading out on the more traditional part of the course to explore the forests and waters of Stockholm.

The teams will be biking and kayaking through the night and there will even be a few surprises along the course. The team of course setters are happy with the planning so far and we are looking forward to seeing the teams set of to defeat this beautiful course.

Two divisions on the same course

Stockholm Extreme will be divided into two divisions this year. The premiere division is for co-ed teams only (at least one team member must be of the oposite sex). The open division is for same-sex teams. Teams can change division at any time prior to the start of the race.

We have recently received a few questions regarding the composition of the teams and we realize that this has in fact been a bit unclear. The intention at first was to only allow mixed teams but since the information has been unclear on this point we have decided to allow all-male teams in a separate division but there will be no prize money in the open division.

Teams are free to change their line-up at any time before the start of the race since both divisions are racing on the same course.

Today the 25:th team signed up for Stockholm Extreme and the race registration is now closed. The registration form is still available for teams who want to be put on the waiting list.

Registered teams must confirm their registration to keep their place in the field. Teams that do not confirm their registrations may risk to loose their place to teams on the waiting list.

Lifesystems kit to all teams

We are happy to anounce that Lifesystems signs a deal as an official supplier of Stockholm Extreme. All teams will be given a Lifesystems Light n Dry Pro first aid kit as a part of the mandatory equipment to carry during the race.

As a great part of the security preparations all race crew will also carry a kit from Lifesystems to be able to help out in the best possible way in case of injury.

Security is a very important issue during a race like this with athletes racing at high speed during such a long time. A good first aid kit can make a big difference if there is an accident far from any transition areas during the race and we feel safe knowing that all teams carry a good kit at all times.

In the line up so far there is a great mix of teams from three different countries. Some experienced racers and some new teams who will try their first adventure race.

It is great to se new teams coming to try out adventure racing i Stockholm. One of our goals when we started this race was to get more people to take the step from one-day races to the longer races and we are getting there.
